  1. What is the history of Sulfuric acid?

    Sulfuric acid is one the most widely used chemical commodities in the world. With a global consumption of approximately 265 million mt, sulfuric acid usage is a good barometer of the economy and an indicator of industrial development. Sulfur is the usual feedstock to produce sulfuric acid, but important volumes are also produced by capturing the sulfur dioxide obtained from sulfide ore roasting in the copper, zinc and lead smelting process. Main application of sulfuric acid is the production of fertilizers, but it is also used to manufacture other products like pigments, pulp and paper, fibers, detergents, batteries, specialty chemicals, water flocculants and for the processing of mineral ores and metal refining.

    Sulfur is a chemical element, originating from Oil and Gas or Mining industries and marketed into a wide range of businesses, mainly phosphate production, metal leaching and other chemical and fertilizer industries. Our Sulfur department originates, markets, transports and distributes Sulfur worldwide while our local teams maintain a global presence offering our services in various locations around the clock. Tricon sulfur business is designed Global but is performed Local, as we operate through various local distribution networks in China and Africa. This is for us a way to provide liquidity to our suppliers at all times, but also provide our customers with tailor made quantity, structured finance and creative offtake solutions. Through various agreements, both our offtake and supply arrangements, are structured around long term contracts making Tricon a player in all market conditions. We have first-hand knowledge not only to market sulfur but also to handle it safely, complying not only with all international and local rules and regulations, but also observing and promoting best industry practices in terms of HSSE.   3. What is the importance of fertilizers and what are the primary elements of the product?

    Fertilizer is an important material which is applied to the plant or soil in order to add more nutrients and help increase the yield of the plant. With the world population increasing by almost 2% per year, it is becoming more crucial to find ways to increase the yield and limit the risk of global food shortage. There are three important elements in fertilizers which are used for plant application: N, P, K
